A long-standing favorite for simple burgers, hot dogs, fries, shakes and malts, Daly Restaurant in Livonia announced this week that it will close this year.
“We plan to remain open through the summer,” reads a statement posted to Facebook Thursday. “We have been fortunate to serve the community for over 67 years. We appreciate all that you have done for us throughout these decades.”
The statement highlighted the importance of their well-established team.
“We hope that you will continue to support both Daly and its longtime staff,” reads the Facebook post. “We have been blessed to have such a dedicated, honest and hard-working crew. We hope that they can remain with us through these final months.”
A closing date was not shared, but updates are expected to be posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
“We will keep you updated as we go through this process,” reads the statement.
The restaurant at 31500 Plymouth in Livonia has been in business since 1959, but other Daly-branded spots have served the community throughout the years.
A restaurant with drive-in service operated from the late 1940s until 2003 at 5152 S. Beech Daly in Dearborn Heights. Several other Dalys existed throughout the 20th century across town, from Westland to Warren.
For now, Daly Restaurant in Livonia is open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Mon.-Sat. at 31500 Plymouth Road.
