Lansing man killed in two-car crash on M-43 near Grand Ledge

Update (4 p.m., Aug. 19): The road has been reopened.

ONEIDA TWP. — A Lansing man was killed and a Grand Ledge man was seriously injured in a crash on M-43 west of Grand Ledge on Tuesday, Aug. 19.

The crash happened about 9:10 a.m. at M-43 and Benton Road, and the highway remained closed into the early afternoon hours.

Michigan State Police said a 42-year-old Lansing man was driving east on M-43 when his 2011 Ford Focus collided with a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck heading north on Benton Road. The driver of the pickup was an 18-year-old Grand Ledge man who had disregarded a stop sign, police said.

The Lansing man was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said. The 18-year-old driver was being treated for serious injuries at a hospital. His condition was unknown, state police said.
