At the start of the month, Michigan State University formally announced that they had made a decision on their next athletic director, tabbing former Georgia Tech athletic director J Batt to replace Alan Haller. That decision was finalized on Friday by the MSU Board of Trustees, and now that’s it’s official, we also know what Batt will be earning in his new role with the Spartans.
Batt’s salary is part of a six-year deal and will start with a base pay of $1.85 million and increase by $100,000 each year, leading to a total of $11.6 million over the six-year deal.
Batt’s contract also has a ‘Performance Goals’ clause, which makes him eligible for additional bonuses if he meets criteria agreed upon each June by him and University President Kevin M. Guskiewicz.
