Chick-Fil-A takes another step toward reality in Hartland Township

Chick-Fil-A has received preliminary site plan approval from the Hartland Township Board of Trustees for the former Big Boy at 10587 Highland Road.

The approval came during a meeting Jan. 13, according to Hartland Township Planning Director Troy Langer. Next, developers will need to return before the Planning Commission and Board of Trustees for final site plan approval.

Those dates haven’t yet been set, according to Langer.

The chain plans to demolish the existing building and construct a more than 5,000-square-foot restaurant with drive-through service approximately in the same spot.

The project was originally proposed for the former Burger King along M-59, but developers decided to swap addresses — to the relief of residents and officials — in August.
