Battle Creek Enquirer-area high school sports top performers for April 20-25

Here is a list of the top performers in high school sports from the Battle Creek Enquirer-area for the week of April 20-25.

Our weekly top performers list and athlete of the week nominees are compiled courtesy of information provided to the Battle Creek Enquirer by coaches, athletic directors or team statisticians through emails or mentioning @bcesports in game results and highlights posted to Facebook.

All-City Events

It was a big week for city rivalries in Battle Creek.

The annual All-City Track and Field Meet was Friday, April 24 at Battle Creek Central High School. See Story Here: 2026 All-City Track and Field Championship

Friday was also the annual All-City Lacrosse Tournament, held at Harper Creek.

City bragging rights being up for grabs continues on Saturday, April 25 with the All-City Girls Tennis Championship at Lakeview.

Baseball

Lakeview hosted its annual Spartan Invitational on Saturday, where the program also honored its past state championship teams. See story: Lakeview baseball celebrating state titles, including 40th anniversary of 1986 squad

In the tournament, Lakeview swept Marshall and Olivet.

The Spartans defeated Marshall, 15-5. Lakeview scored 11 runs in the third inning in the win. Mason Hood went 2-for-5 with three RBIs with Sam McCullough, Memphis Wirtz and Duane Arrowood each driving in two runs.

Lakeview edged Olivet, 4-3. Lakeview scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to get the win. Hood had a two-run single in the inning to help with the victory. Lakeview’s Camden Bradley earned the win from the mound, pitching six innings and striking out three.

Harper Creek split two games at the Grand Ledge Invitational. The Beavers fell short against state-power Grand Ledge, 4-0. Harper Creek beat Petoskey, 2-1. In the win over Petoskey, Harper Creek’s Tanner Alderson allowed one run over five innings in getting the win.

Pennfield swept Union City in a regular season doubleheader. In a 12-1 win in Game 1, Garrett Hill drove in three runs for the Panthers. In the 10-0 win in the second game, Calvin Paesens drove in two runs.

Softball

Lakeview hosted its Spartan Invitational in softball on Saturday. Lakeview split two games, beating Marshall (4-3) and losing to Paw Paw (5-1).

In the victory over Marshall, Lakeview scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to win the game with Angelia Palma had a two-run double. Delaney McCullough earned the win for the Spartans, striking out six in seven innings.

Harper Creek swept a doubleheader against Eaton Rapids on Saturday. In a 11-2 win in the opener Sophia Kline hit for the cycle, going 4-for-4 with five RBIs. Kennedy Halverson also had a home run. In the 9-8 win in the second game, Kaylee Kirkpatrick was 2-for-3 with four RBIs.
