Cheboygan's Kiefer, Schley make all-conference basketball first team

CHEBOYGAN – A pair of Cheboygan Chiefs earned themselves some top honors following impressive boys basketball seasons in 2025-26.  

Senior forward Andrew Kiefer and junior center Nolan Schley, who helped lead the Chiefs to a runner-up finish in the Northern Shores Conference, were both named to the all-conference first team.

Junior guards Gavin Smith and junior point guard Landon Gahn made the NSC second team.   

Rounding out the Chiefs on the NSC squad as an honorable mention was senior guard Carson Kiefer.

Together, those five started lifted Cheboygan to its first district championship since the 2015 season.  

During Cheboygan’s end-of-season banquet on Tuesday, March 24, Jason Pauley earned the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan’s (BCAM) Team First award, while Carson Kiefer and Andrew Kiefer were recognized as BCAM’s outstanding student-athletes, recording a grade point average of 3.8 or higher.  

Team awards at the banquet included most valuable player (Carson Kiefer), defensive player of the year and hardest worker (Landon Gahn), most improved (Andrew Kiefer) and most energetic (Frank Leonard).
