CHEBOYGAN – For the Cheboygan softball team, it was another successful season on the field.
In the Northern Shores Conference, the Chiefs were one of the best teams, along with Boyne City.
Following the campaign, several Chiefs were named to the all-Northern Shores, all-region and all-district teams thanks to their play on the field.
Making the NSC first team were Cheboygan seniors Presley Chamberlain (second base) and Tessa Lake (catcher), while sophomore Diem Schley (shortstop) also earned a spot on the first team.
Junior Nataleigh Blaisdell (third base) and sophomore Lydia Kosanke (pitcher) earned nods on the NSC’s second team. Senior Bea Schulz (first base) was recognized as an honorable mention.
Schley (shortstop), Kosanke (pitcher) and Blaisdell (third base) picked up spots on the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association (MHSSCA) all-region team.
Schley (shortstop), Blaisdell (third base), Kosanke (second pitcher) each made the MHSSCA all-district team, along with Aubrey Mastin (left field), Mackenzie Stockman (center field) and Chamberlain (at-large).
At Cheboygan’s end-of-season banquet on Thursday, June 11, team awards were handed out for most valuable player (Kosanke), best offensive player (Schley), most improved player (Addison Ptasnik and Elleigh Wilson), and best defensive player (Schulz, Chamberlain, Lake and Schley).
Cheboygan also announced Blaisdell and Kosanke as their team captains for next season. Chamberlain and Lake served as Cheboygan’s captains this spring.
