Calhoun County man wins big prize on instant lottery. How much he won

A Calhoun County man won $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Millionaire Maker instant game, the Lottery announced on Thursday, June 18.

“I don’t play the lottery a lot, but whenever I feel like buying a ticket, I’ll buy one,” said the 46-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous. “I bought a Millionaire Maker ticket while I was at the store and then tucked it away to scratch later after work. When I saw it was a $1 million winner, I freaked out! It feels like I can breathe again.”

The player bought his winning ticket at Lakeview Liquor, 2497 Capital Ave. SW in Battle Creek.

The man recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000, rather than annuity payments for the full amount.

With his winnings, he plans to buy a new car and then save the remainder, the Lottery reported.

Players have won more than $110 million playing Millionaire Maker, which launched in September 2025. Each $50 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $75 up to $6 million. More than $201 million in prizes remain, including one $6 million top prize, nine $1 million prizes, 42 $10,000 prizes, and 1,764 $1,000 prizes.
