Birmingham police detained one person with a handgun after officers responded to the 1400 block of East Lincoln Street early Saturday morning, April 11, on reports of gunshots being fired. There were no reported injuries.
Calls came in at around 6:17 a.m. to the city’s Dispatch Center, according to a Birmingham Police Department Facebook post, and police found shell casings in the area.
Witnesses reported hearing a verbal altercation followed by gunshots, officials say.
“Video footage from nearby residences confirmed numerous subjects fleeing from the home,” the news release said.
Birmingham police said a party was advertised through social media and the home was a rental.
The police eventually found and detained one person who fled the area and was in possession of a handgun, according to the post. Other people were also detained for questioning, according to the news release.
Police are seeking more information about the incident. People can contact the detective bureau at 248-530-1770.
