The winner of a seat on Auburn Hills City Council died shortly after the polls closed on Election Day, Nov. 4.
Greg Ouellette, a longtime leader of the city’s planning commission, earned one of four spots available on City Council in the election, according to a news release from the city. He was set to be sworn in Nov. 17.
It was Ouellette’s lifelong dream to sit on the council, according to a provided statement from his wife.
Ouellette ran for the role previously.
But City Manager Tom Tanghe, in the release, recognized the work Ouellette already did for the city.
“Greg was a well-respected and instrumental leader of the Planning Commission where he helped guide some of the most complex developments in the community,” Tanghe said.
Ouellette’s contributions will be honored at that Nov. 17 City Council meeting. City Council will announce plans on filling his seat “soon.”
