Food, forests and fun animals highlight this week’s schedule in Northern Michigan.
Here’s what we recommend:
Meet colorful animals
Kids have the chance to meet some live animals during the “Camouflage Animals” program at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22 at the Charlevoix Public Library.
The program, which connects to the Summer Reading Club theme of “Color Our World,” will inform the audience about colorful, camouflaged animals from different countries and diverse ecosystems.
The program is presented by Dynamic School Assemblies and is suitable for all ages.
For more information, visit charlevoixlibrary.org.
Admire tiny art
You can continue the colorful theme at the Cheboygan Area Public Library where their very first Community Tiny Art Show is now on display.
The tiny art show includes pieces submitted by the community that are 8×8″ or smaller, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, photography, poetry and more.
The art show opened on July 18 and will remain on display until July 25.

Swordsmanship in the Sault
Even more library fun is available at the Bayliss Public Library in Sault Ste. Marie when they host Lake Superior Armizare at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22.
Lake Superior Armizare first began as a HEMA club at Lake Superior State University in January 2021. The group is committed to the study, preservation, practice and teaching of the fighting methods of the medieval and early renaissance.

Enjoy the Food Truck Rally
Help raise money for the Boyne City Farmers Market during their annual Food Truck Rally on Thursday, July 24.
The rally will take place from 5-9 p.m. with live music, beer, wine and spirits, and food trucks from around the region.

Rock the Forest
Enjoy live music, camaraderie and a summer evening outside during Save the Trees and Rock the Forest on Thursday, July 24.
The Little Traverse Conservancy’s Save the Trees fundraiser will take place at 6 p.m. at the Offield Family Viewlands in Harbor Springs with a cocktail reception, food and an auction.
The Rock the Forest concert with The Castellows will follow at 8 p.m.
In total, $50 from every ticket is donated to the Little Traverse Conservancy. To buy a ticket or for more information, visit landtrust.org/save-the-trees.
