One of the headlining acts for the Allegan County Fair has canceled, just weeks before the start of the event.
The Allegan County Fair announced Aug. 19 that a performance by R&B artist Ne-Yo, scheduled for Sept. 12, has been canceled. The fair said the cancellation was due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Those who purchased tickets through Etix or the Allegan County Fair by card will receive an automatic refund, organizers wrote on Facebook. Anyone who purchased with cash or check at the fair office will need to call 269-673-6501 to receive a refund.
Anyone that bought tickets through a third-party vendor will need to contact that vendor.
The fair has secured another event for Sept. 12, according to ACF Executive Director Saree Miller. In an email to The Sentinel written Aug. 20, Miller confirmed that SJO Motocross will now serve as the evening’s grandstand event.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. — tickets are $5 for general admission and $8 for reserved box seats. Ticket prices do not include admission to the fair or parking, Miller wrote.
This is the second time in three years that one of the fair’s entertainers has canceled, although the previous act — Nelly — rescheduled for another evening after poor weather and trouble grounding his plane.
The 2025 Allegan County Fair runs Sept. 5-13. Headlining grandstand events include comedians Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias and Jeff Dunham on Sept. 5; Cole Swider on Sept. 6; and Gabby Barrett on Sept. 11.
Unique Motorsports will present an Off-Road Demo Derby on Sept. 7 and a Demolition Derby on Sept. 13. Other grandstand events include a parade Sept. 8, tractor and truck pulls Sept. 9, and a rodeo Sept. 10.
