Geurink, the GLIAC Freshman of the Year, announced she will transfer to Ferris State next year, one of the top programs in NCAA Division II – and the biggest rival of two-time defending NCAA Champion Grand Valley State.

“After this crazy season, I was looking for stability in a program that has proven itself,” Geurink said. “I think that I grew a lot as a player this past year and saw Ferris State as a program that would continue that growth. I loved the girls, coaches and culture and wanted to be a part of it all.”

Geurink started nearly every game for NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State and was named GLIAC Freshman of the Year. Ferris State finished 26-7 last year, reaching the NCAA tournament.

Geurink averaged 10.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. She shot 41.8 percent from the field and 29.5 percent from beyond the arc, totaling 284 points, 108 rebounds, 22 assists, 16 steals, and five blocks.

“Expanding my game was the biggest thing this year. I shot well from the 3-point line which made my defenders have to defend me at all three levels, opening more things up,” Geurink said after the season. “Defensively, they put me on pretty good offensive players with my length, so I developed a lot on that side of the ball.”

With the confidence of earning a starting spot, Geurink broke out in the fifth game of the season with a season-high 24 points against Wingate. She surpassed 20 points again with 22 against Purdue Northwest in January and scored in double figures 15 times this season. Geurink also grabbed 11 rebounds against Thomas More while scoring 15 points for her lone double-double of the year.

Now, she will be a key player on a team with championship goals.
