It’s the final countdown this weekend for Hattie’s Hallmark after 30 years in business at 41630 W. 10 Mile Road in Novi.
The store’s owners, sisters Diane Ross and Debbie Alba, have lost their lease and everything must go.
“About a third of our inventory is left,” Ross said on Friday. “We’re still emptying our back room and bringing out new stuff every day, it’s going pretty fast.”
Everything in the store is at least half-off, including cards, gift wrap, gifts and candy. Keepsake ornaments from a variety of years are 70% off. Fixtures are also for sale and deeper discounts are expected as the weekend continues.
The store will permanently close its doors on Monday, June 29, to make way for new tenants, Orangetheory Fitness.
Ross and Alba were notified by their landlord in the spring that they had 90 days to vacate, not enough time to find another location. They are sad to be leaving, and their customers have expressed they are devastated to see them go.
“People have been so kind, bringing us food,” Ross said. “We are just so thankful for the neighborhood outpouring, it was really incredible. Please stop in and say goodbye, we want to say thank you and we will miss you.”
