An allegedly drunk driver was arrested in the twilight hours of Oct. 24 for striking a moped on US-127 and seriously injuring a Hudson teenager, according to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office.
In a release, LCSO wrote the crash occurred just after midnight near Manitou Road in Rollin Township.
According to deputies, an Adrian man was traveling northbound on US-127 when his vehicle struck a moped from the rear, ejecting a male driver and female passenger, both of whom were wearing helmets.
The man fled the scene southbound, dragging the moped several miles before being stopped by police and arrested.
The moped operator, 17, of Jackson, received only minor injuries, but the female passenger, 17, of Hudson, was seriously injured and transported to Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
