Experience “The Stonewater Rapture”

The Lake Superior State University Arts Center is presenting “The Stonewater Rapture” by Doug Wright with several performances this week.

According to the play’s description, the story “follows two teenagers as they confront the collision between strict religious ideals and the complicated realities of growing up. Whitney, newly elected president of his church’s youth ministry, attempts to navigate desire, doubt and morality, while Carlyle wrestles with trauma through the lens of faith and fantasy. As their beliefs are tested, the two must face truths that challenge the world they’ve been taught to trust.”

The show is directed by Noah Lucé. Whitney is played by Pat Hildebrand and Jake Jackson and Carlyle is played by Riley Kloeckner and Joelene Melgar. The show contains mature content and strong language, and is recommended for audiences age 17 or older.

Upcoming performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, and at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29. Tickets are $5 for general audience and free for LSSU students, staff and faculty.
