Eastpointe police are investigating after a 13‑month‑old child was discovered inside an impounded vehicle at a local tow yard on Saturday, Feb. 28, authorities said.

According to the department, officers had no prior contact with the vehicle before the tow yard’s call, prompting investigators to work with other local agencies to determine how the car was impounded and why the child was inside.

The incident remains under investigation.
