Monroe County Community College is hosting information sessions for its nursing and respiratory therapy programs in preparation for upcoming application deadlines, according to a community announcement.
The respiratory therapy program sessions are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. April 14 and 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. May 9. All sessions will be held in Room H-157 of the Gerald Welch Health Education Building. Attendees can register at monroeccc.edu/rt.
Participants will learn about respiratory therapy careers, job duties, employment outlook and necessary classes. Faculty will be available to answer questions, and prospective students can earn a point toward admission by attending. The application deadline for the Fall 2025 semester is June 26.
“The MCCC RT program is recognized as one of the best in the state of Michigan and the United States,” said Helen Stripling, dean of the Health Sciences Division and director of Respiratory Therapy at MCCC. “We are a recipient of the Distinguished Credentialing Success Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, and 100% of our students have passed the CRT credential exam and 98% have passed the RRT exam in the past three years. We currently have articulation agreements with University of Michigan-Flint, Eastern Michigan University and University of Toledo that make transferring to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree quite easy. And we plan to secure even more articulation agreements in the near future.”
Prospective nursing students and their families are encouraged to attend an information session at 1 p.m. April 4 to learn about nursing education options, application deadlines and requirements, concurrent enrollment opportunities with university partners and career opportunities. The session will be held in Room H-165 of the Welch Health Education Building. Registration is available at monroeccc.edu/divisions/healthsciences.
