People around the world will be able to see what’s happening in downtown Marine City in March when a new StreamtimeLIVE Hometown Camera is installed on Main Street.

In a recent press release for the Marine City Area Chamber of Commerce Director Laura Merchant stated they were excited to announce the city will be hosting the first “Hometown Cam” in Michigan. She noted the chamber has partnered with the Marine City Community and Economic Development Board for the project.

“This project is made possible through StreamTimeLIVE, the same company behind our popular Ship Cam,” Merchant wrote. “It is set to be installed in March, the Marine City Hometown Cam will provide live-streamed views of our beautiful downtown, increasing visibility for local businesses and attracting more visitors to the area.”

In a phone interview Merchant said the opportunity came about when StreamTimeLIVE co-founder Robin Rinderspacher, contacted her to see if the city might like to have an additional camera downtown.

“We had the first SHIPTIME camera in Michigan so the Hometown Camera will now also be the first in the state,” Merchant said.

StreamTimeLIVE will come to Marine City and install the camera and it will offer a live feed street view of what’s happening downtown 24-hours a day.

“This is a way to drive traffic on the web for our town,” Merchant said. “We will be meeting soon to figure out the best location for the camera downtown.”

The system will include a streamline strip with information about the city and there will also be an opportunity for viewers to interact via a comments section.

“I think this will give us a wider reach and provide more exposure to our downtown,” Merchant said. “It’s amazing to see the number of people that watch the Shipcam live.”

The app for the cameras is provided at no cost to the public, they can simply go to youtube.com. and check out what’s going on downtown via the camera lens.

Merchant is particularly excited about the new marketing tool for the downtown area noting it will eventually show off what’s happening during events downtown and also promote them beforehand.

The StreamTimeLIVE website states that the company provides ‘in-house, soup-to-nuts service to our clients and the best live streaming experience on the internet.”

It further states: Our strength lies in the team’s diverse professional experience in video production, live streaming, equipment development and installation, website and graphic design, event planning and production, and branding and marketing.

From location selection to final adjustments, we work tirelessly to ensure we deliver the very best products to our viewers. We’re always updating, upgrading and staying ahead of the curve when it comes to the latest technology. There is no challenge too great, no idea too small, and no innovation too pie-in-the-sky for this team.
