LCSO: Alcohol, speed appear to be factors in deadly Livingston County crash

IOSCO TWP. — A local man was killed after being partially ejected from a vehicle in a crash Sunday, April 6, in Iosco Township, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. 

Deputies were dispatched around 6:32 p.m. Sunday to a single-vehicle crash on Dutton Road north of Roberts Road. Upon arrival, they learned a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer was approaching Dutton Road at a high rate of speed from a private drive when the driver lost control, according to LCSO. The vehicle slid sideways and overturned onto the roadway.

The passenger, a 40-year-old Gregory man, was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by Livingston County EMS, according to LCSO.

The driver, a 42-year-old Gregory man, was taken to University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Hospital in Lansing with minor injuries, according to LCSO.

The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. It’s currently unclear whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors in the crash, according to LCSO. The roadway was closed for about four hours for investigation and cleanup.
