SAGINAW – The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Great Lakes Bay Region has installed a new iWall gaming system at its East Saginaw site. The virtual reality feature spans an entire wall in the Club’s common area and utilizes motion capture technology to promote physical fitness.
“KidsCampus is our only facility without its own gymnasium,” Director of Program Taiece Anderson said. “While we can always use the parks across the street, the iWall ensures our members can stay active regardless of the temperature or weather outside.”
From archery to ski jumping, the system comes equipped with a robust suite of games and activities for the Club members. Unlike almost any other gaming system, the iWall does not require a remote or headset of any kind.
“It’s amazing,” Anderson said. “With the iWall, your body is the controller.”
According to CSE Entertainment, the system’s manufacturer, “the iWall is more than just an interactive play area, it’s a symbol of inclusivity and accessibility.” With motion sensor-controlled technology and games that can be played from a wheelchair, the iWall ensures that everyone, regardless of their physical ability, can participate.
Anderson shared that the children at KidsCampus were initially surprised by the sheer size of the device. However, the system proved to be very user-friendly, and members were soon dancing, racing, and even performing parkour without ever leaving the room.
“I like how it’s interactive, and you don’t need a remote,” Steven H.,10, said. “Plus you can play multiplayer against your friends or just by yourself.”
