Is Cade Cunningham playing today?
The Detroit Pistons are one win (or Orlando Magic loss) from securing an NBA playoff spot but might not have Cunningham due to injury. The Pistons have a prime opportunity Friday, when they face a Toronto Raptors team that they’ve had success against recently.
They’ve won their past five against the Raptors (28-49), including all three matchups this season. If they pull off the series sweep, it’ll be their first since 2021-22.
But Cunningham has missed the past five games with a left calf contusion after playing 66 of the team’s first 71 games. And he’ll miss his sixth on Friday on the road against the Toronto Raptors, as he was listed as OUT on the 6:30 p.m. injury report.
The Pistons are already without Tobias Harris, who returned from a two-game absence Wednesday in Oklahoma City before exiting the second half.
FAQ: Everything you need to know about Pistons and NBA playoffs
The Pistons (42-34) are currently tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for fifth in the Eastern Conference standings. The Pistons had a three-game win streak following Cunningham’s injury — including a 133-122 home victory over the East-leading Cleveland Cavaliers — but dropped their past two, allowing the Bucks to tie them. Milwaukee holds the series lead, 2-0, and the teams will meet in a home-and-home in the season’s final two games.
The Pistons fell at the Thunder, 119-103, without Isaiah Stewart, Ron Holland and Marcus Sasser, who were all suspended following their brawl — and eventual blowout loss — to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
