To keep the pool clean, safe and family friendly the City of Algonac updated its food and beverage police for the 2026 season.
· NO food is allowed on the pool deck
· All food must be eaten in the designated eating area
· Water only inside the pool area
· Sports drinks, soda, juice and flavored beverages are not permitted on the pool deck
· Reuseable cups must be empty upon entry
· Cups may be refilled with water once while inside
· NO alcohol is permitted – due to issues in previous seasons this rule will be strictly enforced. Any suspicions of alcohol will result in immediate removal from the facility
· These polices help us maintain a clean environment, reduce bees, prevent spills and ensure a safe experience for all patrons.
To find out more about the pool Blue Water Healthy Living caught up with Algonac’s Part-time Recreation Coordinator Cindy Babisz to pose some questions on the topic.
Blue Water Healthy Living: How about some basics on the pool like the size, the depth, are there slides or a diving board?
Algonac Part-time Recreation Coordinator Cindy Babisz: Pool is zero entry and up to six feet in depth. There are no slides of diving boards.
BWHL: How does the admission “pass” purchase work – can a senior that buys a $50 pass or an individual that buys a $70 pass or even a family of four pass for $150 – does that ensure admission at all the times the pool is open throughout the summer?
Babisz: That ensures admission at all times except during Aerobics on Tues and Thurs from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. or if the 100-person limit is met, then know more people will be allowed in the pool until some people leave.
BWHL: What about daily admission – that $4 charge – can that be purchased at the pool entrance during all the hours the pool is open to the public? Is admission free for children under 2? Is there a non-resident admission?
Babisz: Yes, they purchase a daily pass at the pool at all times except during aerobics classes or if the pool is at the 100-limit capacity. There’s no fee for those two and under and there’s no non- resident fee.
BWHL: Does the pool have a concession stand? What items are available for purchase?
Babisz: There are basic concessions with water, pop, Gatorade, chip products and ice cream products
BWHL: Day to day can people who visit the pool bring in coolers and snacks for their families?
Babisz: No, nothing can be carried in. We are adjacent to a park with picnic areas. No food or drink allowed on pool deck except water. We have a designated area to eat and drink products purchased from concession. No alcohol or glass allowed.
BWHL: Will there be any pool items/toys to rent or purchase like water wings, inflatables, life jackets or noodles? Are swimmers allowed to bring their own?
Babisz: Only Coast Guard life jackets are allowed. None are for rent.
BWHL: Beyond the lifeguards will there be any other attendants working at the pool while it’s open?
Babisz: Two concession workers will be on hand.
BWHL: How does rental of the pool on Saturday and Sundays from 5 to 8 p.m. work? Are Lifeguards provided? What is the cost?
Babisz: There’s up to 100 people limit in the pool. Lifeguards are provided and the rental fee is $100 per hour.
The Algonac Pool is located at 1833 Michigan Street in Algonac.
