On this episode of Blue Water Sports Hall of Fame, Ron Toles sits down with retired MLB player Jim Gosger.
Jim is a Port Huron native and a graduate of St. Stephens High School. After high school, Jim was scouted and began playing Class C-Ball. He quickly moved up the ranks and played Major League Baseball for numerous teams including, the Boston Red Socks, Kansas City Athletics, Seattle Pilots, New York Mets, and the Montreal Expos. Jim played Major League Baseball for a total of thirteen years.
Jim shares his experience of playing sports and baseball at a young age, how his father was his biggest influence and supporter by improving his son’s baseball skills everyday.
During his major league career, Jim played as an outfielder and first baseman. He also batted and threw left handed. A few years after he retired from professional baseball, Jim was inducted into the Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame in 1978.
