CHICAGO — Tensions flared early between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky on Saturday afternoon at the United Center.
Sky guard DiJonai Carrington received a Flagrant 2 foul and was ejected from the game in the first quarter after she hit Fever guard Sophie Cunningham in the face while Cunningham was going up for a layup.
Carrington’s entire arm came down on Cunningham’s face, and Cunningham fell to the floor under the basket. She quickly got up and went straight at Carrington, who was on the baseline, pushing at her chest and yelling at her before Makayla Timpson and Fever security pulled her away.

It didn’t take long for officials to review the play and eject Carrington from the game. As she exited to the tunnel, however, she got a lot of cheers from Sky fans.
She had eight points in the three minutes she played, and helped fuel Chicago after it trailed 8-0.
It didn’t take long for Carrington to comment. She posted “WHITE PRIVILEGE @indianafever” on Threads at 3:58 p.m., roughly eight minutes after committing the foul. She later posted on Twitter “8/23” with a smiley face emoji, referencing the next meeting between the Fever and Sky, also in Chicago.
Cunningham continued playing following the foul.
