Sometimes a change of scenery is exactly what a player needs. That certainly proved true for former Texas A&M quarterback Haynes King, who jump‑started his career at Georgia Tech and ultimately became the 2025 ACC Offensive Player of the Year.
After three injury‑plagued seasons in Aggieland, King transferred to Georgia Tech and flourished. He produced one of the most dynamic careers in program history, totaling 7,907 passing yards, 2,277 rushing yards, and 91 total touchdowns. His breakout season earned him a 10th‑place finish in Heisman Trophy voting, and despite going undrafted, he quickly became one of the more intriguing rookie prospects when the Carolina Panthers signed him as a free agent.
King’s athletic profile only strengthened his case. He tested exceptionally well, posting one of the fastest quarterback 40‑yard dash times at 4.46 seconds, and at 6‑4, 212 pounds, he brings the size and mobility NFL teams covet. Of course, the path for an undrafted free agent is steep. But King wasted no time making noise.
In the Hall of Fame Game against the Arizona Cardinals, he delivered a statement performance: 219 total yards and three touchdowns, capped by a walk‑off touchdown run that electrified the moment and turned heads across the league.
