Hamilton was a third-round pick by Jacksonville in the 2020 NFL draft. He was selected 73rd overall.
Recapping DaVon Hamilton’s 2025 season
Hamilton continues to provide a very steady presence along the interior of the Jaguars’ defensive line. He logged 13 pressures and one sack last season, but a big part of his job responsibility comes in the run game and as someone who takes on blockers.
The Jaguars finished last season with the stingiest run defense unit in football, and while that is a group accomplishment, Hamilton led from the middle. Out of 68 eligible tackles, he ranked tied for 17th in PFF’s run stop rate metric.
Hamilton also had one of the key plays of the season, batting down Geno Smith’s pass at the line of scrimmage on the Raiders’ two-point conversion attempt in overtime, securing the win for Jacksonville.
Looking ahead to 2026 for DaVon Hamilton
Hamilton will continue to play an important role for this Jaguars’ defense. The magnitude of his impact won’t fully register on the stat sheet, but with the space he eats up, blockers he takes on, and running lanes he clogs, Hamilton creates opportunities for those around him to make plays. When Hamilton is playing at a high level, everyone around him benefits.
It’s also worth noting that Hamilton is entering a contract year, and he’s currently set to be a free agent in 2027.
