PITCHER OF THE YEAR
Lexi Clark, Sr., Frenship
Clark was a thorn in opponents’ sides on offense and defense.
Clark, who signed with Lubbock Christian University, was 21-5 in the circle with 296 strikeouts. She allowed 48 runs on 78 hits.
She batted .474 with a .505 on-base percentage, 10 doubles, five triples, seven home runs and 39 RBIs. Clark was named Class 6A pitcher of the year by the Texas High School Coaches Association.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Zoey Sifuentes, Sr., shortstop, Lamesa
Sifuentes, an Angelo State signee, hit .692 with 22 home runs and 57 RBIs. The 2024 Lubbock A-J player of the year drew 36 walks and also had a .982 fielding percentage.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Lainey Gibson, So., shortstop, Lubbock-Cooper
Gibson hit .473 with 19 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 51 RBIs. The district newcomer of the year also posted a .961 fielding percentage on 77 chances.
NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR
Gracie Banks, Fr., pitcher, Shallowater
Banks was voted district newcomer of the year after batting .530 with a .577 OBP and 36 RBIs. She recorded 204 strikeouts in the circle.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Meagan Gonzales, Sundown
Gonzales led the Roughettes to an unprecedented season.
Sundown finished 35-6 after beating Shiner in the Class 2A Division II state championship. The Roughettes had previously never reached the state semifinals.
It was Gonzales’ fifth season at the helm, four years after Sundown finished last in district.
FIRST TEAM
Sydnee Gomez, So., pitcher, Snyder
Gomez led the Tigers to the state semifinals after pitching 136⅔ innings. She went 13-5 with 171 strikeouts and a 1.95 ERA. Gomez batted .494 with a .526 OBP, 14 doubles, two triples, one home run and 25 RBIs. She was voted District 5-4A pitcher of the year.
Brynly Gregory, Jr., catcher, Sundown
Gregory, the district offensive MVP, hit .533 with a .583 OBP. She notched 66 runs and 71 RBIs.
Kelvie Roberts, Sr., first baseman, Frenship
Roberts made the all-district first team with a .462 batting average, .552 OBP and 36 hits. She totaled five doubles, five triples, eight home runs and 31 RBIs.
Destiny Garza, So., pitcher/second baseman, Sundown
Garza was the district MVP and made the state all-tournament team after pitching the Roughettes to the Class 2A Division II title. She was 19-3 in the circle and also hit .554 with a .597 OBP. Garza tallied 60 runs and 83 RBIs.
Kolbi McCord, Sr., third baseman, Slaton
McCord batted .593 with a .609 OBP. She notched 13 doubles, five triples, three home runs and 33 RBIs during a first-team all-district campaign. Her fielding percentage was .962.
Alyssa Borunda, So., shortstop, Hale Center
Borunda, the district MVP, hit .729 with 21 doubles, 12 triples and 54 RBIs. She posted a .964 fielding percentage.
Ashley Martinez, So., outfielder/second baseman, Denver City
Martinez was the district utility player of the year after batting .573. She notched 43 hits, 42 runs, five home runs and 38 RBIs. She was selected as the team MVP.
Saydi Mendez, Sr., outfielder, Levelland
Mendez earned district MVP with a .571 batting average and 56 hits. She totaled 11 doubles, seven triples, one home run and 36 RBIs. Her fielding percentage was .844.
Makayla Perez, Jr., outfielder, Monterey
Perez hit .490 with nine doubles, two triples, six home runs, 50 runs and 20 RBIs. She made the all-district first team.
Adalie Agundis, Jr., utility, Muleshoe
Agundis batted .614 with a .667 OBP, six home runs and 58 RBIs. She pitched 110 innings with 108 strikeouts and a 2.10 ERA.
SPARKS OFF THE BENCH
Mylee Blacklock, So., pitcher/shortstop, Lubbock Christian
Blacklock hit .518 with a .580 OBP and 1.21 slugging percentage. She totaled 44 hits, 12 doubles, four triples, 13 home runs, 49 runs and 52 RBIs. Blacklock threw 103 innings, going 17-3 with 174 strikeouts, 37 walks, a 2.45 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.
Brinley Currington, Sr., catcher, Shallowater
Currington, an LCU signee, batted .621 with a .661 OBP and 27 RBIs. She was the district offensive MVP.
Micaela Martinez, Sr., catcher/second baseman, Snyder
Martinez batted .472 with a .504 OBP. She totaled 14 doubles, four triples, two home runs and 29 RBIs.
Madison Pyle, So., pitcher, Floydada
Pyle, the district MVP, was 28-8 with 308 strikeouts, a 2.59 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 197⅓ innings.
Brooklyn Ray, Sr., pitcher, Lubbock-Cooper
Ray, a Wayland Baptist signee, went 17-3 with a 2.01 ERA over 118⅓ innings. She recorded 163 strikeouts and 49 walks with a .913 fielding percentage. Ray also posted two saves.
Jaden Smith, Jr., shortstop/catcher, Monterey
Smith hit .419 with eight doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 25 runs and 38 RBIs. She made the all-district first team.
SECOND TEAM
Selena Fernandez, So., pitcher/catcher, Monterey
Fernandez was 10-3 with 72 strikeouts in 72 innings. A first-team all-district pick, she hit .392 with nine doubles, one triple, 13 home runs, 46 RBIs and 20 runs.
Brooklyn Esqueda, Jr., catcher, Frenship
Esqueda batted .429 with a .490 OBP. She posted eight doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 37 runs and 29 RBIs.
Kenzie Gutierrez, So., first baseman, Brownfield
Gutierrez hit .619 with 19 RBIs. The first-team all-district selection had a .964 fielding percentage.
Addilene Blanco, Jr., second baseman, Muleshoe
Blanco hit .551 with a .583 OBP. She notched three home runs and 40 RBIs.
Jasmyn Villarreal, Sr., third baseman, Denver City
Villarreal batted .528 with 38 hits, including five home runs. She also recorded 35 RBIs and 37 runs.
Madilyn Barrientes, Fr., shortstop, Levelland
Barrientes, the district newcomer of the year, batted .522 with 60 hits. She notched 24 doubles, four triples, five home runs and 50 RBIs. She had an .891 fielding percentage.
Lea Aviles, So., outfielder, Snyder
Aviles, the district offensive MVP, hit .407 with a .486 OBP. She notched 14 doubles, five triples, four home runs, 28 RBIs and 32 stolen bases.
Maddison Dahl, So., outfielder, Hale Center
Dahl batted .611 with seven doubles, two triples, one home run and 18 RBIs. She was an all-district first team selection with a .941 fielding percentage.
Analee Larrea, Jr., outfielder, Denver City
Larrea recorded 47 hits with a .540 average. She totaled 37 runs, 25 RBIs and 18 stolen bases to make the all-district first team.
Breigh Gregory, Jr., utility, Sundown
Gregory was a first-team all-district pitcher with a 16-3 record. She also hit .514 with a .634 OBP, 70 runs and 45 RBIs.
SPARKS OFF THE BENCH
Bryer Cook, Fr., catcher, Abernathy
Cook hit .595 with a .750 OBP, 1.69 OPS and 29 RBIs. She posted a .980 fielding percentage.
Emry Jourden, Jr., shortstop, Sundown
Jourden was the district defensive MVP and made the state all-tournament team. She batted .484 with a .587 OBP, 78 runs and 39 RBIs.
Kirsten Pyle, Sr., catcher, Floydada
Pyle hit .361 with a .471 OBP and .648 slugging percentage. The district offensive player of the year recorded 15 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 39 RBIs. She also had a .977 fielding percentage.
Raymie Scott, Sr., shortstop, Tahoka
Scott was voted the team MVP and made the all-district first team. She hit. 477 with a .536 OBP and 1.19 OPS. Scott recorded 41 hits, 12 doubles, one home run and 30 RBIs.
Haley Sotelo, Jr., pitcher, Lubbock High
Sotelo pitched 139 innings with a 3.17 ERA, 1.95 WHIP and .218 batting average against. She recorded 184 strikeouts and 97 walks. Sotelo batted .315 with a .417 OBP, nine doubles, one triple, one home run and 17 RBIs.
Zoey Teichroeb, Sr., pitcher, Seminole
Teichroeb went 15-4 with a 3.48 ERA. She also hit .540 with a .900 slugging percentage, 10 doubles, four triples, six home runs and 34 RBIs.
