Buccaneers place two offensive leaders on CBS Sports Top 100 list

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had two players named to Pete Prisco’s Top 100 players list for CBS Sports, and both selections point to the foundation of the team’s offense entering 2026.

Left tackle Tristan Wirfs came in at No. 22, giving Tampa Bay one of the highest-ranked offensive linemen on the list. Quarterback Baker Mayfield landed at No. 80, another sign of how much his career resurgence with the Buccaneers has changed the perception of both the player and the franchise. Wirfs’ ranking should not surprise anyone who has watched Tampa Bay closely. He has been one of the NFL’s premier offensive tackles, combining rare athleticism, power, and consistency at one of the sport’s most valuable positions. The Buccaneers have dealt with change across the roster in recent seasons, but Wirfs has remained a stabilizing presence. His placement at No. 22 reflects his value as both a pass protector and a franchise-building block.

Mayfield’s inclusion is just as important for a different reason. He entered Tampa Bay needing to prove he could still be a long-term NFL starter, and he has done more than that. Mayfield has brought toughness, production, and leadership to the Buccaneers’ offense, helping the franchise remain relevant in the NFC South while giving coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht stability at quarterback. His No. 80 ranking also arrives as his contract situation remains one of Tampa Bay’s most important storylines. Mayfield is currently the 16th-highest-paid quarterback in the league, averaging $33 million per season, and both sides have made it clear they would like a long-term partnership. Being recognized among the NFL’s top 100 players only strengthens the case that Mayfield has become more than a stopgap answer.

The Buccaneers would have liked to see more names on the list, but Wirfs and Mayfield give Tampa Bay representation at two premium offensive spots. One protects the quarterback. The other drives the offense.

For a team trying to remain in the playoff picture, that is a strong place to start.
