At 16, Emily, a Michigan foster teen who is waiting for her forever family, knows who she is and what she wants out of life. While there are thousands of foster youth in Michigan, Emily is one of nearly 200 who are waiting for an adoptive family.
There’s something quietly powerful about Emily. You notice it not because she demands attention, but because she brings a calm kind of magic wherever she goes. With a mind full of color and creativity, she sees the world through an artistic lens, turning ordinary moments into something meaningful and memorable. Though creative and quiet, she has goals of a brave nature; she wants to join a SWAT team as a future career.
When asked what she’s most proud of, Emily’s answer is simple and revealing: her kind and giving heart. She values family deeply and dreams of one day having a strong, supportive family who accepts her for the bright, unique person she is. She needs experienced parents who will communicate well and be clear about expectations. She would do best with parents who stay calm even when life gets a bit bumpy. It’s also important to Emily that she maintains relationships with her siblings, as family is at the heart of what matters most to her.
