Man arrested after fatal shooting of 18-year-old woman

The man accused of fatally shooting his 18-year-old neighbor with an AR-15 style rifle has been arrested and is facing multiple charges, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

North College Hill resident Ricky Orlando Lee, 43, is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, one count of using weapons while intoxicated, one count of aggravated menacing and one count of tampering with evidence, according to Hamilton County Municipal Court records.

Lee shot 29 rounds into a car with 18-year-old Brea’l Wade and another passenger inside on June 22, killing Wade, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting happened in the 2000 block of Carpenter Drive, near the Marshal Peter Dumele Memorial Park.

Wade and another passenger in the car were both taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center after the shooting, the coroner’s office said.

North College Hill police asked the sheriff’s office to handle the shooting, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Kyla Woods said the department routinely assists with investigations of other agencies, mostly due to capacity.

Court records show it is not Lee’s first run-in with North College Hill police. The warrants are the latest in a criminal history that includes two 2022 violent outbursts, which led Lee to be committed to a mental hospital for one year.

An arraignment is scheduled for June 27 at 9 a.m. in the Hamilton County Justice Center. An attorney for Lee is not yet listed on the Hamilton County Court Clerk.

Lee is being housed as an inmate at the Hamilton County Justice Center.
