Temperatures are expected to heat up in Pensacola as a high-pressure system builds over the area, curbing rain and pushing temperatures into the low- to mid-90s.
Local heat indices are expected to exceed triple digits over the weekend, with June 29 seeing the highest temperatures, says the National Weather Service.
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms will start to build that same day, and are forecast to increase throughout the week.
The increased moisture will push heat indices higher, but ultimately lead to some slight cooling on July 1, according to the NWS.
