Meet the Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union Amazing Teacher for the month: Rhianna Price

Rhianna Price, a Head Start teacher at Anson Elementary School in Anson, has been selected as the Abilene Reporter-News/Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union “Amazing Teacher” of the month. She teaches at the same school she once attended as a student and where her own children now go to school.

Her mother, Patty Neal, nominated Price, crediting her with her connection to students.

“She is awesome with the kids, and they love her.”

Known to her students as “Mrs. Rhi,” Price focuses on helping young learners grow academically, socially and emotionally, building skills they need to successfully transition to kindergarten.

From the teacher

Price said the recognition is especially meaningful because it came from her mom.

“My mom nominated me, and having her proud of me is truly all I have ever wanted. She is one of my biggest supporters, alongside my wonderful husband and our three beautiful daughters. I would not have been able to finish my education without their love and encouragement.”

She added that being able to teach in the same school that shaped her is deeply special.

“This nomination means more to me than words can express. It inspires me to teach alongside some of the amazing teachers who once taught me. I have had incredible mentors throughout my career journey, and being able to work in the same school community is very special to me.”

The most rewarding part of her job, she said, is watching students grow and gain confidence.

“The feeling I get when sending a child to kindergarten, especially one who may have had a rough start but can now manage their emotions and is excited and ready to learn, is worth more than any paycheck an educator could receive.”

What inspires her

Price said her own teachers helped shape her path into education.

“The teachers I had growing up inspired me to pursue my teaching degree. Their kindness, dedication and belief in their students made a lasting impact on me, and I strive to provide that same encouragement and support to the children in my classroom.”

If you could take your class anywhere …

“I would take them to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. I have visited with my own girls, and they absolutely love feeding and petting the animals. It would be such a fun, hands-on experience for my students and a wonderful opportunity for them to explore and learn outside the classroom.”

Advice for future teachers

“One piece of advice I would give future educators and students would be to always remember your ‘why.’ Teaching can be challenging, but the impact you make on a child’s life lasts forever. For students, never give up on yourself, growth takes time, and every step forward matters.”
