Traffic stop in Two Rivers leads to 9-mile police chase
The incident began when Two Rivers police officers stopped a vehicle in the 1500 block of 20th Street in Two Rivers.
During the stop, officers noticed signs the man was impaired. When officers told him to get out of the vehicle, police said he drove away and officers pursued him.
During the chase, police said the man intentionally struck a marked patrol vehicle, drove off-road in an attempt to evade officers and eventually crashed near North 10th Street and Waldo Boulevard in Manitowoc.
After the crash, police said the man tried to flee again in the disabled vehicle before getting out and attempting to steal a marked squad car.
Police said he continued resisting arrest until officers used a Taser and took him into custody.
Police say squad cars were damaged but no injuries were reported
Three Two Rivers police squad vehicles were damaged during the incident. No officers or members of the public were injured, police said.
Two Rivers police were assisted by the Manitowoc Police Department and the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office.
