New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malachi Fields will be an alluring player to consider drafting in dynasty fantasy football leagues this year.
In Heath Cummings’ 2026 dynasty fantasy football one-quarterback, rookie-only mock draft, Fields is selected as the sixth pick in the second round.
Fields is slated to play in a crowded receiving corps next season. Malik Nabers is the clear No. 1 receiver in New York, and Darius Slayton has not only put up numbers in line with being an ideal WR2 but also possesses the talent and veteran experience to own that role in 2026.
Darnell Mooney, just two seasons removed from coming close to 1,000 receiving yards with 992 in 2024 with the Atlanta Falcons, is primed to be the Giants’ primary slot receiver. A potential resurgence from Odell Beckham Jr. may position him as the lead backup on the outside.
Fields is in line to serve as the other primary backup on the outside next season. He likely won’t have a big season in the receiving yards department as a rookie in 2026, but he could deliver strong performances in individual games. His projection of 158 receiving yards by ESPN’s Mike Clay may prove to be an accurate forecast for his rookie campaign.
Beyond the short term, the 6-foot-4 Fields possesses the ability to stretch the field and win contested 50-50 balls. He also has good leaping ability, making him the most imposing physical presence at the position for the Giants.
It remains to be seen if Slayton stays in New York for the long haul. Fields will be well-positioned to take over for him on the outside if he departs in free agency in 2028 and to develop into a quality receiver for dynasty league team owners.
