Lakers trade draft rights to Vsevolod Ishchenko to Mavericks

On Wednesday afternoon, the Los Angeles Lakers became participants in the second round of the 2026 NBA Draft when they sent cash to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for the No. 56 pick. Shortly afterward, the pick was used to select the team’s second incoming rookie after it traded for the rights to Cameron Carr, the No. 24 overall pick, on Tuesday.

The No. 56 pick was used to choose Vsevolod Ishchenko, a 21-year-old guard out of Russia. He is 6-foot-8 and weighs 218 pounds, and he last played for PBC Lokomotiv Kuban, a pro basketball team that is based in Krasnodar.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Los Angeles then sent Ishchenko’s rights to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for cash.

This past season, Ishchenko averaged 8.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 23.7 minutes per game while shooting 46.3% from 3-point range, per NBA.com’s scouting report on him.
