Just in time for the Fourth of July, Brevard County officials lifted a burn ban after recent rains quenched dry conditions along the Space Coast.
The Brevard County Commission issued its burn ban in May as fire officials and weather forecasters warned about parched conditions and brush fire concerns.
While the ban is lifted, residents should continue to be aware of their surroundings before setting off any private firework displays. Officials also recommend property owners trim back vegetation.
Brevard County Fire Rescue crews, the emergency management office and the Division of Forestry plan to continue to monitor conditions as the county moves into the hot, seasonal weather of summer.
Weather officials also point out that Brevard has settled into a daily pattern of rain but add that it also includes chances of frequent lightning, which can spark vegetation fires.
