With minicamp behind us, let’s break down the Jacksonville Jaguars’ roster through a different lens.
In this series, we will be going position-by-position and placing each player into various categories, determining whether they are a lock to make the team or find themselves on the bubble.
What this exercise can do is help bring into focus how many roster spots are actually available this summer, along with highlighting who may be on the outside and looking in.
Up next are the cornerbacks.
Roster locks (4): Travis Hunter, Montaric Brown, Jourdan Lewis, Jarrian Jones.
No mystery here — these four will lead the way at this position group, with Hunter, Brown, and Lewis the presumed starters. Jones’ versatility will provide Anthony Campanile with ways to get him on the field.
On the bubble (6): Christian Braswell, Jabbar Muhammad, Preston Hodge, Dane Jackson, Keni-H Lovely, Devon Marshall
Depending on how many cornerbacks the Jaguars roster, there are one to two roster spots up for grabs. The front-runners for those roster spots appear to be Braswell and Muhammad.
Braswell played 160 defensive snaps last season, coming off the bench during the second half of the season, while Muhammad put together a very strong performance during offseason programs.
Perhaps a name to watch this summer is Jackson, who does bring some experience to the back end of the depth chart, having played 2,562 career snaps.
