Spring sports in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana are over, bringing a close to the 2025-2026 high school sports season.
Here are the 2026 spring All-Stars from The Enquirer, naming all-city honorees in bass fishing, flag football, lacrosse, tennis and boys volleyball. Baseball all-city teams and softball all-city teams have already been released and track & field honorees are still on the way.
These honorees are the best-of-the-best in the tri-state and many had championship successes, including The Fenwick Falcons and Moeller Crusaders winning boys volleyball state championships and the St. Xavier Bombers repeating as Division I lacrosse champs while also winning a team tennis state title.

Eli Scroggins and Drew Berling, Covington Catholic: The duo finished fifth in the KHSAA state tournament, catching 8 fish for a total of 22 pounds, 2 ounces. They placed 14th in the regional meet, catching the maximum five fish for 11 pounds, 7 ounces.
Coach of the year
Robb Schneeman, Covington Catholic: He led the Colonels to a top-10 finishing boat at the state tournament for the fourth time in six seasons.

Bella Heile, Badin: The junior was a co-player of the year in 2025 as a wide receiver, but successfully transitioned to quarterback this season and led the Rams to a Regional Championship. As a two-way player, she also returned three interceptions for touchdowns during the regional tournament.
Evie Schoolfield, Mount Notre Dame: The 2025 finalist for National Player of the Year had another stellar season, leading the Cougars to a 10-0 regular season and a trip to the state championship game. The Lindsey Wilson University commit threw for 3,103 yards and had 50 touchdowns in her senior season, including three touchdowns in the inaugural OHSAA title game.

Desmond Gault, Mount Notre Dame: He led Mount Notre Dame to an undefeated regular season at 10-0, then coached the Cougars to the inaugural OHSAA state championship game.
Mike Sebastian, Badin: After winning the state championship in 2025, he coached a fresh Badin team to win the regional championship at Paycor Stadium.

Reed Peterson, Mariemont: He stepped in mid-season as interim head coach after his father, longtime head coach Steve Peterson, stepped away due for health reasons. The younger Peterson led Mariemont to a 12-7 record and a trip to the state tournament.

Emma Boomershine, Madeira: In her third year at the helm, the Amazons continued their upward trajectory. Boomershine coached Madeira to its best season in school history, turning in a 10-6 record and securing the Amazons’ first ever playoff win.

Carson Dwyer-Nihal Narisetty, St. Xavier: Members of the OTCA team state champions, Dwyer and Narisetty won the Division I state championship doubles championship. The title was Dwyer’s third championship and Narisetty’s first.
Coach of the year
Joseph Jackson, St. Xavier: St. Xavier had the OHSAA doubles state champions and the Bombers won the OTCA district championship, beating Mason 3-2 before winning the state championship.

Al Hertsenberg, Covington Catholic: Hertsenberg’s Covington Catholic team didn’t drop a match as the Colonels repeated as 9th Region champions, advancing to the KHSAA team state tournament where they finished as state runner-up. In the individual state tournament, CovCath had a doubles semifinalist team and a singles runner-up.

Natalie Elleman, Conner: Elleman won the 9th Region championship, coming from behind to beat the two-time defending champion. She also won her opening match at the KHSAA state tournament.

Avery Love-Niveditha Selvaraju, Ryle: The pair helped Ryle to a regional team championship for the first time and repeated as 9th Region doubles champions before reaching the KHSAA state quarterfinals.
Coach of the year
Stephen Collins, Ryle: Ryle won the Region 9 team championship for the first time, beating Notre Dame 3-2 in the tournament finals. In the KHSAA state tournament, the Raiders won their opening round match over Scott 3-0 and reached the state quarterfinals.

Player of the year
Joe Taggart, St. Xavier: The Bomber senior capped off his career as one of Cincinnati’s greats. Taggart won GCL-South and Region 4 Player of the Year honors for the second-straight season and was a first-team All-Ohio pick. He led St. Xavier back to the regional finals and tallied 365 kills (1,014 for his career), 118 digs, 41 aces and 36 blocks.
Coach of the year
Casey Pieper, Moeller: In his third season leading the Crusaders, Pieper’s squad went 21-4, winning the GCL-South for the first time since 2021 and solo for the first time since 2018. Moeller won the regional crown and won its 12th Ohio state championship. Assistant Bill Eckhoff gets a special mention for leading the team through the state tournament as Pieper was out of the country.

Gavin McWaters, Loveland: In his sophomore campaign, McWaters was the ECC Offensive Player of the Year, Region 8 Player of the Year and a first-team All-Ohio pick while leading Loveland to a conference title and the regional championship game. He had 331 kills, 134 digs, 34 aces and 24 blocks.
Coach of the year
Tina Gustely, Fenwick: She was the GCL-Coed Coach of the Year, leading Fenwick to its first league title since 2023. The Falcons went 22-6, winning 17 of their last 18 games, including a reverse sweep of Loveland in the regional finals and the Division II state championship.

Heather Kidd, Ryle: In her first season leading the Raiders, Kidd’s team went 18-4, winning the 6th Region tournament and reaching the KHSAA state quarterfinals. She was named the Region 6 and KVCA Coach of the Year.
