Following offseason programs for the Jacksonville Jaguars, there are a handful of veteran contributors who could be on the hot seat entering training camp.
As we’ve stated before, what takes place during OTAs and minicamp won’t be what ultimately determines who makes the final roster or what playing time looks like. Those decisions will largely be based on what takes place during training camp.
That said, what takes place during offseason programs is certainly noteworthy, and it can shed some light on where things stand heading into the summer.
So, given what we know right now, these five Jaguars’ veterans could find themselves on the roster bubble during cutdowns.
TE Hunter Long
Since the NFL draft, Long’s roster spot has been in jeopardy, and that seems to be even more true following offseason programs. Tight end Tanner Koziol was among the standout performers, routinely flashing in the passing game.
Like Long, Koziol brings a pass-catching-first presence to the position, and there may not be a need to have that skill set on the roster twice, especially with Brenton Strange, Nate Boerkircher, and Quintin Morris already accounting for three roster spots. Most teams roster four tight ends.
LB Yasir Abdullah
Abdullah has been a core special teams contributor for the Jaguars the past two seasons. However, as we detailed recently, he finds himself at a very crowded position group, with a number of additions made over the last two years. Players like Jack Kiser, Jalen McLeod, Parker Hughes, and Branson Combs can all play on special teams while offering more potential upside on defense.
WR Austin Trammell and Tim Jones
Like Abdullah, both Trammell and Jones bring special teams experience and help to this Jaguars team. However, there may not be room on the roster for them. Rookies CJ Williams and Josh Cameron looked every bit the part during offseason programs, potentially squeezing Trammell and Jones off the final roster.
DT Matt Dickerson
As the 2025 season unfolded, Dickerson earned more playing time. As of now, he is probably the favorite to fill that fifth spot on the defensive tackle depth chart. But behind him are TJ Bollers, Jalen Hunt, and Keivie Rose — three young, up-and-coming tackles.
Oftentimes, teams prefer to have more high-upside players that may need some development to round out the depth chart. Dickerson’s experience can provide stability, but if one of these players can stand out this summer, the Jaguars may be more willing to take a swing on their potential, just as they did last year at defensive end with Danny Striggow and BJ Green.
