The San Francisco 49ers had a pretty impressive 2025 campaign, considering all of their injuries last year. They finished the regular season with a 12-5 record and tied for second place in the division before knocking the defending Super Bowl champions out of the playoffs.
While San Francisco eventually fell short of their ultimate goal, losing to the Seattle Seahawks in the division round, their season could still be considered a success.
With Seattle winning the Super Bowl last year and the Los Angeles Rams making massive improvements this offseason, the 49ers have been a bit of an afterthought for some so far. However, former NFL running back and three-time Super Bowl champion LeGarrette Blount wants it to be known that he’s not forgetting about San Francisco in 2026.
“I’m on that train too,” Blount said on “Good Morning Football” this week. “Mike Evans is a dog. Adding a big-time veteran like that around guys like Christian Kirk and guys like Ricky Pearsall, you have guys that are going to be able to play ball. You have a quarterback that’s coming back that was kind of riddled with injuries, a little bit back-and-forth throughout the season. You got, obviously, Christian McCaffrey, who people arguably consider the best running back in the game all-purpose.
“I’m not looking past these guys at all. The San Francisco 49ers are going to always be a problem. They were always a problem all the way from back when I played football. They’re still going to be a problem. They know how to put a team together. They know how to get a quarterback. I’m on the San Francisco train. I like them.”
The 49ers have a difficult travel schedule in 2026, with two international games, but if they can stay healthy, they should be able to compete in arguably the toughest division in the NFL. And, if they can make the playoffs, they’ll be seen as a tough out.
