CHEBOYGAN — Down the stretch, Jaelyn Wheelock delivered some clutch goals.
Throughout the campaign, Morgan Davis was as consistent as any player on the pitch.
Together, the two Cheboygan senior girls soccer stars lifted the Chiefs to a third-place finish in the Northern Shores Conference and an opening-round district triumph over Grayling.
Recently, the two Cheboygan players were named to the Michigan Interscholastic High School Soccer Coaches Association (MIHSSCA) Division 3 all-state girls soccer team as honorable mentions.
Wheelock and Davis served in Cheboygan’s midfield and as forwards, having goal-scoring success. Davis recorded a hat trick in a victory over Kalkaska during the regular season, while Wheelock’s two district goals against Grayling were good enough for the Chiefs to advance.
Davis was named to the all-Northern Shores Conference first team as well as the all-region and all-district squads. She also picked up the honor of Cheboygan’s best offensive player this season.
Wheelock made the NSC second team, all-region and all-district teams and was also recognized as the team’s most valuable player during an end-of-season banquet.
Davis will continue her soccer career at Alpena Community College next season.
