The second round of the 2026 U.S. Open will have a slight delay, but only for a few extra holes in the early morning.
The first round at Shinnecock Hills was delayed two hours due to fog, and so about 50 players were unable to finish their first 18 holes on Thursday.
At 6:35 a.m., those players will finish up, which will push the start of Round 2 back about 15 minutes. One of those players still yet to finish is the leader of the pack, Wyndham Clark, who tore up the front nine and is 6 under for the through 16 holes. He is four shots clear of the field.

Round 2 begins shortly after Round 1 ends on Friday morning
The weather is much clearer on Friday morning than it was 24 hours prior. The 50-or-so players who weren’t able to finish their 18 holes on Thursday were able to do so early Friday. Round 2s tee times were pushed back 15 minutes, but if the weather holds up, everyone should be able to finish.
