This Move Tallahassee hike is a perfect way to start your weekend with a beautiful outdoor walk in nature. It’s getting warm, so we have picked a cool shaded path. You will also have three distance options to choose from while on the beautiful Lake Overstreet Trail.
This is the perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy shaded trails, fresh air, and meet new people as you can connect with others.
Date & Time: 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20
Location: Lake Overstreet Trailhead (Forest Meadows Parking Lot). 4750 North Meridian Road. This event offers 3 options, a 2-mile easy loop, or a 4-mile walk (two loops), or a 5.5-mile scenic route around the pristine Lake Overstreet (slightly hilly with a few roots).
Description: Note – there is a $2 cash entrance fee unless you have a Florida Parks Pass. The first option is an approximate 2 mile fairly level terrain loop that comes back to the entrance. You can also plan to walk this loop twice for 4 miles. Or, you can join Jerry Osteryoung leading the 5.5-mile group. It is not unusual to see deer and other wildlife on this walk.
We encourage walkers at all levels and make sure no one will be left behind. Afterwards we will gather to connect and share stories.
Everyone is welcome! Bring friends, family, come solo, or bring your people-friendly dog.
Directions: From Thomasville Road heading north, pass under I 10. Turn left at Timberlane Road and continue about 1.7 miles to Meridian Road. Turn right and continue approximately 1.9 miles. Look for the Forest Meadows parking lot on the left near a blinking crosswalk light. If you reach Miller Landing Road, you’ve gone too far.
