A historic Clifton mansion built at the height of Cincinnati’s Gilded Age recently hit the market for $1.6 million.
The property, known as Brightside, was built in 1889 and sits on nearly 2 acres at 3892 Clifton Ave.
A historic estate rooted in Cincinnati craftsmanship
The home traces its roots to Charles H. Duhme, whose family was behind Duhme & Co., a leading nineteenth-century Cincinnati jewelry and silver firm.
Like many wealthy Cincinnati families of the era, the Duhmes built a grand estate in Clifton, then known for its large homes set on landscaped grounds.
Original architectural details meet modern renovation
Brightside reflects that wealth in both its size and design, and many of the home’s historic elements remain in place today.
Interior details include multiple fireplaces, leaded-glass windows, ornate woodwork and pocket doors.
The home also includes a library, solarium and a finished third floor with additional bedrooms and recreation space.
