The International Bridge Administration announced on Wednesday, June 17 that a one-lane closure will be in effect this summer on the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge.
According to the announcement, there will be one lane of alternating traffic on a portion of the bridge impacted by ongoing maintenance work. The work includes painting of the lower U.S. arch steel and bridge deck resurfacing. The project is expected to be completed by late August.
Bridge officials said the lane closure will be in place from Monday through Thursday each week, with all lanes open Friday through Sunday. The lane of alternating traffic will be maintained using temporary traffic signals. Drivers should also expect brief delays and potential backups as a result of the lane closure.
