An outdoor Renaissance festival is planned for Father’s Day weekend.
Michigan Castle Renaissance Festival is slated from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20 and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 21 at 2110 E. Rauch Road in Erie.
The outdoor event offers many interactions and entertainment for all ages. Free parking is available. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed and registered at the gate.
Carolyn Bredschneider, president of Castle Events, said this year’s festival continues with tradition but will be the first year it will be hosted by Castle Events, a 501(c)3 non-profit focused on art education for all ages.
The organization believes education is most impactful when woven together with creativity and community spirit. Their hands-on events are designed to transform their unique outdoor venue into a living classroom where local artisans and educators share their craft.
“It will be similar to other small Renaissance fairs,” Bredschneider said. “We have a lot of entertainment, a lot of vendors, food trucks and wide variety of things including a children’s area to make it family friendly and a fun time for everyone to be outside and do something different.”
Tickets are $10 at the gate for festivalgoers. Admission is free for children 12 and under.
“Whether you come for the turkey legs, the pirate show, the children’s story time, the live glass-blowing and blacksmithing, the multitude of wares from local vendors or you come simply to sight-see and relax, there is something here for everyone,” she added.
