Houston — This feels on-brand for the 2026 Tigers.
The night after he hit three home runs and knocked in six runs, Colt Keith was scratched from the lineup Tuesday with a sore right wrist.
The soreness stems from a terrific play he made in the seventh inning, taking a hit away from Christian Walker, backhanding a ball behind the bag at third and making a strong, off-balance throw to first.
He slipped after releasing the ball and tumbled into foul territory.
“I tripped on the grass,” he said, sheepishly after the game. “I think everybody was watching the ball when I threw it. Felt super athletic (sarcasm).”
Keith stayed in the game and in the ninth hit his third homer of the game, an opposite-field shot into the Crawford Boxes.
Keith was in the lineup as the designated hitter. Kerry Carpenter was moved into that role with Wenceel Perez inserted into right field for Carpenter.
