Bubba’s 33 to replace former TGI Fridays with first central Ohio site

A sibling restaurant to Texas Roadhouse that serves burgers, pizzas and wings is planning its first central Ohio location in Reynoldsburg, taking over a site that was previously home to a chain restaurant that closed in 2024.

Bubba’s 33 is planning its first central Ohio location at 2928 Taylor Road SW in Reynoldsburg in the State Route 256 corridor, according to an application filed with the city.

The chain will take over the site of the former TGI Friday’s, which closed in October 2024 as the chain filed for bankruptcy. The Reynoldsburg TGI Fridays was the last of at least five in central Ohio.

Reynoldsburg Mayor Joe Begeny said the city beat out a Polaris-area site for the restaurant’s central Ohio location.

He added that Bubba’s will tear down the existing building and build a new restaurant on the site.

City staff members are currently reviewing the application and will determine if the project requires approval from the city’s planning and zoning board or if it will be reviewed administratively, city Development Director Eric Meyer told The Dispatch via email June 15.

Bubba’s, created in 2013 by Texas Roadhouse Founder Kent Taylor, is a family-friendly restaurant that features wall-to-wall TVs. It’s known for made-from-scratch food including stone-baked pizzas, half-pound burgers, traditional and boneless chicken wings, the chain’s website says.

The chain has existing locations in Toledo and Canton and more than 50 locations across Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina and Texas.
