The FSU Seminoles do not have a cornerback committed in their 2027 recruiting class after Dayon Cooper flipped to the Tennessee Volunteers, where he will play wide receiver. Another one of their top targets is now off the board, with Kamil Loud committing to the California Golden Bears on Monday.
Loud had previously named the Seminoles one of his top six schools, and they were set to host him on an official visit next week. It no longer looks like that will happen following his commitment to one of FSU’s newest conference rivals.
The Golden Bears were able to close on Loud during his official visit, as new head coach Tosh Lupoi has elevated their recruiting since being hired this offseason. While Loud plays for Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Nevada, he is originally from California, and his father, Kamil, was a record-setting wide receiver for the Golden Bears in the 1990s.
Loud is ranked as the No. 314 overall player and No. 36 cornerback in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 2 player from Nevada.
FSU’s cornerback board has thinned out with Loud and several other targets committing elsewhere. They do have one defensive back committed in safety Jemari Foreman, but the Louisville Cardinals are pushing to flip him away from the Seminoles.
